Mall santa
When I told Quentin that I wanted to take him and Harrison to the mall to see Santa, he wanted no part of that. The rest of the afternoon, till Harrison got home from school, I kept trying to convince him that Santa is a good guy, he's not scary, but, no he's not going to listen to me or sit on Santa's lap.
So we head to the mall anyway. I mean, I didn't do it last year, so I have to this year (I think it's the law) The whole way there both Harrison and I try to talk some sense into the kid. Nope, not gonna do it.
We get there right at dinner time and the line is kind of long, so in order to stall, Quentin insists he's STARVING. So fine, Santa's there till 8 pm. We go get McD's (Yum!)
We eat then head back to the line. I glance behind me and I only have one kid. Quentin is on the other side of the little fence barrier thing. So I tell him to come here and he answers "No, I'm not doing it." Very matter of factly. So I tell him he still has to stay with me and Harrison. Harrison and I continue our seemingly futile attempts to change his mind.
We wait in line for about 40 minutes. We look at the cute mechanical elves and fake snow and fake presents. Quentin refuses to look at Santa.
We finally get to the front of the line. Quentin is still adamant that he's not going anywhere near that man. So, I get desperate and threaten to not let him play in the mall play area. And I am dumbfounded when he caves! How easy was that? Why didn't I think of that 6 hours ago?
And they both walked right up to the man and told him they want a Wii.
